Aircon Chemical Wash in Punggol
A chemical wash is what your aircon needs when a normal clean no longer cuts it — when the musty smell comes back days after servicing, cooling stays weak, or water drips because the drainage is fouled deep inside. We use a chemical solution to break down the grime bonded to the evaporator coil and blower wheel, the parts a general service can't fully reach. In Punggol it's $90 per unit, and we'll tell you honestly if you don't need one.
How a chemical wash differs from general servicing
General servicing ($40) cleans what's accessible: filters, covers, the drainage tray. A chemical wash goes further — we apply a cleaning chemical to the evaporator coil and blower assembly to dissolve the layer of dust, mould and bacteria that builds up between the fins, then rinse it through. Think of general servicing as brushing your teeth and a chemical wash as a scaling at the dentist: you need both, but not at the same frequency.
Signs your unit actually needs one
The reliable tells: a sour or musty smell that returns quickly after cleaning, airflow that feels weak even with clean filters, water dripping from the front of the unit, cooling that has clearly declined, or an aircon that hasn't had any deep cleaning in over a year of daily use. If your unit was chemically cleaned recently and is serviced quarterly, you probably don't need another one — and we'll say so on-site rather than take the $90.
What happens during the visit
The technician opens up the fan coil unit, protects your wall and floor with a drain-off sheet, applies the chemical to the coil and blower, lets it work, then flushes everything through the drainage system so the pipe gets cleared at the same time. Filters and covers are washed, the unit is reassembled and test-run, and you get photos of the before and after. Allow roughly 45 minutes to an hour per unit.
When a chemical wash isn't enough
If a unit is heavily fouled — years without deep cleaning, or mould visibly caked through the blower — an in-place wash may not fully restore it. That's when we recommend a chemical overhaul ($160), where the fan coil is dismantled and the parts are cleaned out of the wall. We'll always start by recommending the cheaper option that will actually work; if we quote you an overhaul, it's because a wash would leave the problem half-solved.
Price and booking
$90 per unit, flat — and if two bedrooms have gone musty at once, the second unit onwards is about 25% cheaper in the same visit. Grab a slot at /book or just describe the smell over WhatsApp and let the assistant sort the rest. We're in Punggol estates six days a week (Monday to Saturday, 9am-6pm), and nothing is paid until the wash is done and you've seen the photos.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I do a chemical wash?
For a daily-use unit that gets quarterly general servicing, roughly once a year is typical. Units that skip regular servicing tend to need one sooner. If in doubt, book a general service first — we'll tell you honestly whether the coil needs chemical treatment.
Is the chemical safe for my family?
Yes. The coil is rinsed thoroughly after the chemical is applied, and the unit is test-run before we leave. Any residual smell clears within a short while of normal operation. We lay protective sheets so nothing drips onto your floor or furniture.
Will a chemical wash fix my leaking aircon?
Usually, yes — most leaks in Punggol flats are caused by a clogged drainage line or fouled coil, and the wash flushes both. If the leak is caused by something else, like a damaged drain pipe or installation issue, we'll diagnose it and quote the repair instead of selling you a wash that won't help.
Chemical wash or chemical overhaul — how do I choose?
A wash ($90) handles most cases: smells, mild leaks, reduced cooling on a unit that's a bit overdue. An overhaul ($160) is for heavily neglected units where the fan coil needs to be dismantled and cleaned part by part. Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we can usually advise before you book.
